WIPO trademark database excedes the 10 million documents barrier
The World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) announced last February 20th the inclusion to its trademark database of six additional national collections.
After this incorporation, the overall amount of registrations included in the aforementioned database has almost been multiplied by five, from a previous 2,2 million to the current 10,9 million, becoming the biggest free trademark database worldwide.
As a result, the number of trademark collections already available within the wipo database amounts up to 12, including the holdings of United States, Canada, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, Argelia, Estonia, Egypt, Morocco, the Madrid System, Denominations of Origin (Lisbon System) and the registered emblems following Article 6 ter of the Paris Convention.
With this enlargement, the WIPO already has a rough 29,5 million documents between trademark (10,9 million) and patents (18,6 million documents available at its Patentscope database)
