New Briefing Paper on the EU Trade Secrets Directive
Last June, the EU Directive 2016/943 on the protection of trade secrets was published in the Official Journal.
The aim of the Directive is to ensure a high level of protection of trade secret and the harmonisation of the legislations of the Member State so that cross-border innovation activities in the Internal market are facilitated.
The Directive pays attention not only to the protection of trade secrets, but also to the adoption of efficient enforcement measures (Trade secrets are not covered by Directive 2004/48)
In case you are interested in knowing more about the content of the Directive, in Salvador Ferrandis & Partners we have prepared a briefing paper with a broad explanation of the different aspects covered.
Member States shall implement the Directive in their domestic laws before June 2018.
